At the Open School of Rochester, New York, we will provide an educational experience grounded in the belief that learning flourishes in freedom. By operating a day school where children ages 5-18 can choose their own daily activities, inside the school or in the surrounding community, we foster the growth of mature and responsible young adults who will continue to love learning throughout their lives.
Pioneer Program
Space is currently available in the Pioneer Program--a great suppliment to homeschooling for students of all ages or an alternative to kindergarten.
The Open Learning Foundation is pleased to announce the next session of the Pioneer Program. The Pioneers will meet from 9:00-11:30 am at the Gil Coterie Academy in Pittsford.
- Who: Open to all children ages 5 (or almost 5)-18.
- What: A student-centered learning environment with teacher facilitation.
- Where: 3300 Monroe Ave., across from Pittsford Plaza
- When: Fridays 9:00-11:30, Jan 9, 16, 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 2009. Note that this session is SIX weeks long.
- Cost: $125 per student. (Sibling discounts may be possible, please ask.)
The Pioneer Program shares many of the great features of the Open School, such as curricula based on the needs and interests of individual students, a consensus-based community, and age-mixing.

Public Meetings
